What Documents Are Required?
  • Travel passports used to enter Georgia
  • Supporting documents
(e.g., divorce certificate) in case of previous marriages or children.
For most of the countries (except Ukraine, Belorussia, Russia and other ex-soviet countries), an apostille or legalization is required.
We ensure document accuracy and use certified translators for official translations.
Validity of Marriage Certificate
Marriage certificates with an apostille from Georgia are recognized in all Hague Convention countries. Check if your country is part of this list via the link: www.hcch.net.
For countries outside the Hague Convention but with embassies in Tbilisi (e.g., UAE, Qatar), a two-step legalization process is required, which we can arrange.
For countries without an embassy in Georgia (e.g., Egypt, Lebanon, Pakistan), we complete the first stage of legalization (including Ministry of Foreign Affairs stamp and English translation); couples must finalize the process at their nearest embassy.
What Are the Available Languages for Certificate Translation?
The House of Justice offers official translations into English, Russian, Turkish, Spanish, Italian, French, and German. Such translations are certified with an apostille and are recognized in all Hague Convention countries.

Certain countries (like Belarus and Turkey) may favor translations done by local experts.

We suggest verifying the requirements at the embassy or passport office of your destination country.
to Be Notified About the Marriage Registration?
Do Other Countries Need
Information about a marriage registered in Georgia is not automatically transmitted to other countries.
You can notify your home country via the embassy or passport office.

Some countries have specific deadlines for notification or updating your passport (if you are changing your last name).

We advise you to review the regulations of the country where you are a citizen.
In What Cases Can Marriage Registration application Be Declined?
The House of Justice may refuse to register a marriage if:
  • One or both partners are under 18 years old
  • One of the partners is already legally married
  • The partners are blood relatives (siblings, including first or second cousins)
  • The submitted documents lack key details
    (such as gender or birthdate)
  • One of the partners entered Georgia illegally
(e.g., through Abkhazia or South Ossetia)
  • Divorce documents are incomplete or lack an apostille
Why Choose an Agency Instead of Doing It Yourself?
It is possible to organize the marriage registration on your own, but this comes with risks:
Document Errors
The registration process is conducted in Georgian, making document verification challenging. Our specialists check the data at every stage — from passport translation to apostille processing. Doing this independently may lead to mistakes, extra costs, and stress
Timing Risks
Timing is crucial, especially if your visit is limited. Our team ensures deadlines are met. For instance, when an unexpected public holiday was announced two days before a wedding, we promptly organized the registration in Tbilisi to keep the couple’s plans on track. We help avoid stressful situations and handle unforeseen circumstances effectively
Additional Costs
Finding witnesses, notaries, and rescheduling dates often increases expenses. We maintain transparency: all potential costs are discussed in advance
By choosing an agency, you save time and eliminate potential risks. We provide professional support at every step, ensuring your experience is smooth and enjoyable.
